Titan FC 32 will take place in one week in Massachusetts and the fight card was scheduled to see Lew Polley make his promotional debut against Jack May on the main card broadcast on the CBS Sports Network.
However, May was elevated to the main event last week and it left Polley without an opponent and he is no longer on this fight card.
Unfortunately for Polley, this is a very familiar situation and it has become frustrating for the fighter out of Blackhouse.
“Yeah, it’s happened a few times already,” Polley said on The MMA Report Live. “I am not an easy go for guys so it’s like I already have a hard time finding fights on the regional circuit. After a layoff and now, I was so close. I wanted to fight for Titan. I thought it was a good fit and almost there. Get your medicals done. Everything is good. Your corner is ready. No fight. Like Ed Soares says, this is the fight game. Most people don’t get to see and understand. I guess I just have to live with it.”
Since Jeff Aronson purchased Titan FC earlier this year, Polley is one of many fighters that have talked about why they like Titan FC and wanted to fight for them. For Polley, he wanted to sign with the promotion after talking to other fighters about the promotion.
“The way the guys were speaking about Titan,” Polley said. “A lot of the fighters were happy and Titan was putting on pretty good shows. They are building their upper weights and it just seemed like a good fit timing wise. They seem to have a good relationship with the UFC and other people do not have anything bad to say. You have not heard them screwing over fighters. It was a good organization and good fit in that way.”
Polley admitted to TheMMAReport.com that this is the eighth time that he had a scheduled fight not take place. Along with it being hard on himself, it’s also hard for the people around him at the gym.
“It’s hard because there is a lot of times where it’s like not just a stress on me, it’s a stress on my coaches and stress on my teammates,” he said. “They want to see you preform. They see you train week in and week out. Getting ready and all of a sudden, you are not. After awhile, it’s kind of like I am ever going to fight. The way your teammates look at you like this guy can not catch a break and then if I tell my coach I have a fight, he looks at me like really? Are you really going to fight this time?”
“It’s a pain in the ass and a lot of people don’t really get to suffer any consequences when they do that. I mean you have things happen with this show in Titan and Jack May gets moved up and it’s only two weeks to go. I am not the best fight for someone to take on two weeks notice and on top of that, all of us are trying to get to the next level so nobody wants to risk that. It makes sense to a degree but it still sucks.”
A new opponent and date for Polley’s next opponent is still to be determined by the heavyweight fighter is hoping that his next fight will take place in Titan FC.
“We are still talking about it and trying to figure that out. Nobody has said anything yet. No one is really talking about what is going to happen to me right now. There show is one week away so they have a lot going on. We are talking to Lex right now and seeing what we can come up with and what we can figure out. Lex is a cool guy and he seems very patient, very down to earth.”
“I just want to give him space and let him focus on his show right now and then we will talk after. I do not like burdening people especially when I know the situation. I know what it’s like to put a show together. He is not going to be all about me right now. Hopefully we can work something out because they have a lot of heavyweights that are going to need fights.”
