WSOF 19: Gaethje vs. Palomino Results

World Series of Fighting 19 takes place tonight from Comerica Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona and TheMMAReport.com will have results of tonight’s card.WSOF 19

The online preliminary card stream will begin at 6:15 p.m. ET/3:15 p.m. PT on WSOF.com with seven fights and the feature a light heavyweight bout between Clifford Starks and Eddie Arizmendi.

The main card will be shown on NBCSN and will begin at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT and will be headlined by Justin Gaethje defending the lightweight title against Luis Palomino.

  1. There were several former Bellator fighters fighting on WSOF 19 card. But they didn’t even mention it. They only mention former UFC fighter. Also on Inside MMA they don’t really cover Bellator. MMA media/ promotions 150% UFC bias. All they do is kiss UFC’s ass all the time.

    1. Why would you expect them to mention it? Do you think Bellator broadcast would mention a fighter is formerly of WSOF?

      When it comes to media coverage, UFC coverage is what gets web traffic, TV viewership. This is the fact. It’s not kissing the UFC behind. It’s about making money. Getting people to come to their site or watch their television program.

      1. Actually Bellator did mention Karakhanyan as being former WSOF featherweight champ at Bellator 132. I think Gaethje should rematch guillard next after his fight at WSOF 20. What do you think?

        1. That is one mention. Did they mention Neiman Gracie being a former WSOF fighter? On Guillard, he needs to prove he can make 155 in WSOF. Remember, he has missed weight for both of his WSOF fights

        2. They might of mentioned it, but I’m not sure. I didn’t watch the prelims that night. How many fights does Gaethje have left on his contract do you know? I thought Gaethje vs Palomino was better fight than Davis vs tokoro. Hbu?

        3. You have to accept that every MMA promotion is not going to mention where a fighter has competed at before. I know you don’t like that, but you need to be realistic.

          In terms of Gaethje’s contract, I remember hearing the time frame but don’t recall the number of fights left at this moment.

          Both were great fights. Would give slight edge to Davis/Tokoro since it had a little bit of everything.

        4. You’re right and I do understand that more ppl will watch WSOF or Titan if you mention UFC. I just wish MMA sites/media/ ppl weren’t 150% UFC bias and covered every promotion evenly. But that’s not gonna happen and I have to accept it like you said.

        5. Also Bellator always mentions the UFC. Why would they if they are competing against them. Is it to have more ppl tune in to their show like you said before?

  2. What are you top 5 fights of 2015 so far for the 1st qt? Mine are Jones vs DC/ Bendo vs Thatch/ Pitbull vs Straus/ Gaethje vs Palomino/ Davis vs Tokoro.

  3. Bellator 135 is a 1,200 seat venue correct? so is 137 venue? 138 tickets are priced really good. 200 bucks for front row that’s less than what 134 was.

    1. Probably around that number. Thackerville and Pechanga are events that are basically in big ballrooms.

  4. With the Bamma Spike TV UK deal do you think their fighters will come to Bellator instead of the UFC? Like as a feeder to Bellator? So then both Shamrock FC and Bamma would be feeders to the Bellator instead of promotions only giving fighters to the UFC.

    1. Could end up being that, but I doubt it. Here is my thing with the Shamrock FC partnership, if someone wins a title in that promotion, are they required to sign the Bellator deal? If so, I do not like it at all. I have asked Bellator to comment on this partnership and there has been no comment

      1. No, they don’t have to sign with Bellator. If they want to go to UFC instead they can. I heard an interview with Shamrock founder Jesse Finney where he talked about it. Why don’t you like it? I like it bc why should there be only feeders to the UFC. There should be some feeding systems for Bellator too.

        1. Reason I would not like it is if the contract forced them to take the Bellator deal. Here is the fact, the goal of 90% of fighters is to get to UFC. Fighters for the most part, do not want to get tied down into a contract, unless it’s for great money. Promotions like Bellator and WSOF have to overpay for talent due to their contracts

        2. Shamrock is not forcing their champs to sign with Bellator. Only if they want to. If they want to sign with UFC instead they can. And most of them don’t want to go to Bellator anyway. UFC is first choice for all fighters. Unless Viacom/ Bellator pays more. Or if they use Bellator to get a better deal with the UFC as they have in the past.

        3. I had one fighter that told me he would not fight for Shamrock title due to the Bellator clause

        4. Which is why I thought it was funny when Scott said we want Bellator to be the first choice destination for the best fighters in the world. 95% of the best fighters are all in the UFC. Bellator is 2nd option when getting cut from UFC.

        5. Bellator needs to worry about signing prospects, which is clearly a problem. Scott Cutbirth and Joe Wooster are beating them to every prospect

        6. They do sign good prospects. The problem is that they release a lot of them.

        7. Even when Caplan was matchmaker he would find top prospects then release them all . A lot of them were on winning streaks/ undefeated. Some didn’t even have a fight in Bellator and they were cut. But some of those were do to Visa issues too.

  6. Is the fight with Tony Johnson Jr Volkov’s last fight on his Bellator contract? I ask bc this will be his 8th fight with them. If so I really hope they re- sign him. He’s really good. I wished they released Lavar Johnson instead of releasing Blagoi Ivanov. But oh well what can you do it’s their company. Even tho they don’t really know what they are doing. And I don’t agree with most of their decisions. New management is fucking things up worse than old one. Is it me or did old management make better fights than the new?

    1. Also what’s up with Shamhalev and Titan why aren’t they giving him any fights?

      1. I have not heard anything on Shamhalaev. As long as he is healthy, Titan is required to offer a fighter at least one every four months. If they do not, they would be in breach.

    2. I do not know the exact contract length left on Volkov’s deal at this time. Lavar Johnson hinted about 2 weeks ago on social media that he was released by Bellator.

      Have to remember there is a big difference between old regime and new one. Old regime was a sports based promotion and the new regime is more entertainment based.

      1. Which do you prefer sports or entertainment? I understand the entertainment aspect, but it should be both. You said Lavar and Neer have been released from Bellator, but their profiles are still on Bellator’s website. So is Rampage’s.

        1. I prefer a sports based promotion but to be successful, there needs to be a mix of the two. Just because a fighters profile is on their website, it does not mean they are under contract.

        2. That’s why I like their tent pole events bc it has a little bit of everything.

  7. It’s amazing to me the kind of ppl Bellator chooses to keep/ promote and the ppl they cut. Hbu?

    1. Give me examples? There are a couple of cuts that did surprise me, but there are a lot of them that make sense.

      1. Vegh: I know you say he’s a boring fighter, but the guy has 21 finishes outta of 29 wins. Shamhalaev/ Ivanov/ Valavicius/ Sergej Grecicho, Diego Nunes, etc. There’s a lot more that were surprising , but that was under old regime. Bellator also releases a lot of guys on winning streaks/ undefeated or having only lost a couple of fights in their career. They got rid of a ton of Russians/ foreign fighters too. Maybe bc Scott only wants American fighters so they can be easier to promote. Since Coker has took over not really that surprising cuts, but more shocked with the ppl they sign and keep. For ex: Rogers/ Beltran/ Jacoby/ Bonnar/ Soko/ Alessio/ Grove, etc.

        2. Oh ya and Tokoro. The guy is 32-28-2. I get why they signed him bc he’s an exciting fighter. But he sucks and has a horrible record.

        3. Something to remember, Bellator is a TV show. They want fighters that are going to get ratings.

  8. What’s up with MFC have they folded? Also looks like Cage Warriors is gonna go outta business too.

      1. So is Cage Warriors? I always knew MFC wouldn’t be around for much longer. I’m surprised they lasted this long.

        1. Not looking good for Cage Warriors. Not official, just speculation at this point.

  9. I know why Bellator moved it’s 138 event to Friday. Now it all makes sense. So that means their next tent pole event will be on Saturday? I was thinking they were gonna have them on Fridays from now on.
