Khabib Nurmagomedov is officially out of May’s UFC 187 due to an injury and replacing him against Donald Cerrone will be John Makdessi.
The new fight booking was announced by the UFC on Thursday.
UFC 187 will come from the MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 23 and will be headlined by a vacant title bout as Anthony Johnson meets Daniel Cormier for the light heavyweight title.
Makdessi (13-3) is coming off a win last weekend against Shane Campbell at UFC 186 and he has won four of his last five fights. He defeated Campbell by TKO in the first round and his last two wins have come by TKO/KO in the first round. Cerrone (27-6, 1NC) has won seven in a row and is coming off a win against former champion Benson Henderson. His last three wins have come by decision and his last stoppage win came last year against Jim Miller.
