Friday night’s CES MMA 34 main card on AXS TV will feature a rematch between light heavyweights Kevin Haley and Steve Skrzat. The initial meeting between them took place at 2013 at Gladius Fights 6 and Haley won the fight by disqualification in the third round due to an illegal elbow.
That was the second professional fight for Haley and since that fight, he has gone 2-3 and is coming off a decision win against Mike Zichelle at Bellator 144. On Thursday’s edition of “The MMA Report Podcast,” Haley talked about the initial fight with Skrzat and how he is glad to be facing him on Friday night in Connecticut.
“It’s one of those things. I never want a fight to end the way that it did,” Haley said. “I never want the fight to go to a decision. The reason I fight is to finish the fight. Regardless of how it is. So it was definitely unfortunate. After they called the fight, I reached out to Steve and apologized. I did not want it to go down like that. I heard that he wanted an immediate rematch and that was my second career fight. I thought that I would grow as a fighter and maybe down the road we would meet again. I am excited to go and finish it. I would never want it to end like that from either side. I’m glad that we are going to get the chance make amends I guess.”
