Former WSOF welterweight champion Steve Carl will be making his Titan FC debut next Saturday night in Miami as he will meet Belal Muhammad for the vacant Titan FC welterweight title in the main event of Titan FC 38 on UFC Fight Pass.
Carl (22-4) recently scored a victory at WFCA 13 in Russia against Beslan Ushukov and this was his first official fight since losing the WSOF title to Rousimar Palhares at WSOF 9 in 2014. On yesterday’s edition of “The MMA Report Podcast,” Carl talked about his experience of fighting in Russia.
“It was really different. It kind of felt like the cards were all stacked against you,” Carl said. “Everything that was kind of going down was a little subpar. Trying to get me to weigh-in the whole day early so they could juice there guy back up. Asking for an extra four and a half pounds. It was just one thing after another. The experience was amazing. To go over there to a different culture. They really do have an amazing show and a great promotion. It was something I had not experience before and it was fun. I always like walking into the lions den because you know exactly what you need to do.”
With that being said about his experience fighting in Russia, Carl knew he needed to get a stoppage victory to walk away with a victory and he explained that he is a finisher, unlike his opponent next weekend at Titan FC 38.
“I knew that taking the fight. You have to finish guys. Unlike Belal, I do not have a problem with finishing people. That is what I do.”
