Kurt Holobaugh explains decision to move back to lightweight

Former Titan FC featherweight champion Kurt Holobaugh will be returning to the Titan FC cage next month at Titan FC 39 in Coral Gables, Florida as he will meet Luciano dos Santos and this will be his return to the lightweight.

Holobough (14-4) will enter this fight with back to back defeats and his most recent defeat came in March as he lost to former Bellator featherweight tournament winner Frodo Khasbulaev by decision in Russia. During yesterday’s edition of “The MMA Report Podcast,” Holobaugh joined the show to talk about his recent fight against Khasbulaev and explained why he has decided to move back to the lightweight division.

“Really what it was is every training camp that I start is always I got into my head that I need to make the weight,” Holobaugh stated. “I focus to much on weight cut and I do not think I focus enough on my fundamentals preparing for a fight. Every time that I show up to the gym, I am like ‘how much am I going to sweet today? How many pounds am I going to lose today?’ I forget about fighting on focus too much on the weight cut.”

“Every time I start cutting to 45, I start thinking that I need to go back to 55 soon,” he continued. “But I feel I had some decent success at 145 and I start thinking how I never really had a bad fight at 155. That is kind of what lead me to go back up. So I figured I would go back up and test the waters at 155 and see how it goes.”
