The reported featherweight bout between Ricardo Lamas and B.J. Penn for UFC Fight Night 97 on October 15 in Manila is now official as this will be the main event of the fight card.
UFC officials announced the fight booking on Monday morning.
UFC Fight Night 97: Lamas vs. Penn will come from the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines and ticket information has been released on the Mall of Asia Arena website.
Lamas (16-5) has dropped two of his last three fights and is coming off a decision lost against Max Holloway at UFC 199 in June. His last win came in November of last year as he defeated Diego Sanchez by decision at UFC Fight Night 78. Penn (16-10-2) will be stepping back into the octagon for the first time since July of 2014, which was a TKO defeat against Frankie Edgar. He is 1-5-1 in his last seven fights and his last win came in 2010 against Matt Hughes.
