The four fighters that were in the main and co-main event at UFC on FOX 4 knew that the fighter that was most impressive would earn a title shot in the UFC light heavyweight division.
Following the conclusion of the main event, UFC President Dana White announced on FOX that former champion Lyoto Machida will be the next guy in line for a title shot after Dan Henderson.
Henderson will be challenging current champion Jon Jones at UFC 151 on September 1st in Las Vegas.
Machida (18-3) defeated Ryan Bader in the co-main event of UFC on FOX 4 and scored a knockout in the second round.
The former champion dominated the Ultimate Fighter winner and finished the fight with a straight right hand.
Machida announced after the fight that “The Dragon is back” and it can be argued that Machida is the only fighter to win a round against Jones since he has been the champion. They met at UFC 140 last December and Jones finished the fight in the second round by submission.
Machida has now won two of his three fights and both of those victories are by knockout, with the other victory coming at UFC 129 against Randy Couture.
