St-Pierre (24-2) was able to control the fight whether it was on the feet or on the ground.

In the opening round, St-Pierre was able to take the fight to the ground in the first thirty seconds and dominated the round with his strikes on the ground.

The second round would go down just like the first round with St-Pierre controlling the fight on the ground.

The third round would be the best round for Diaz as he was able to stop the takedown attempts and keep the fight standing. However, St-Pierre would stay out of danger on his feet and maintain control of the fight. In the final two rounds, St-Pierre was three of seven in takedown attempts and was able to outland Diaz. At the end of the fight, all three judges scored all five rounds for St-Pierre and he has now won eleven straight.

In his post fight interview, Diaz (27-9-1) hinted that retirement may be in his future. He has now lost 2 straight and his last win came in October of 2011 against BJ Penn.

Hendricks makes case for title shot with decision win
Johny Hendricks has been calling for a title shot since defeating Martin Kampmann at UFC 154 and he likely secured a title shot with a decision win over Carlos Condit in the co-main event.

He was able to use his striking and takedowns to win all three rounds against the former interim welterweight champion and won all three rounds on the judges scorecards.

He was able to stun Condit with his left hand in the first round and take his opponent to the ground on four occasions. Overall, he took Condit down twelve times in the fight and was only unsuccessful on a takedown on three occasions.

Hendricks (15-1) did appear to slow down in the third round and Condit began to land his strikes. Condit landed 45 total strikes in the final round, but ran out of time. After the fight was over, Hendricks stated that he hurt his left hand in the fight and it’s unclear if he broke his hand. Condit (28-7) has now lost back to back fights with the other lost coming against St-Pierre in a title unification bout.

Ellenberger knockouts Marquardt in first round
Jake Ellenberger believes he can beat anyone in the welterweight division and he defeated a former champion on Saturday night as he knocked out Nate Marquardt in the first round.

Ellenberger (29-6) was able to stun Marquardt against the cage and finished the fight with strikes on the ground. Once the fight was stopped by the referee, Marquardt complained about the stoppage. After the replay was shown, it was clear that the stoppage by the referee was a good stoppage as Marquardt was out on the ground.
