UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos met with UFC President Dana White this past weekend and the champion wants to face Alistair Overeem.
The two were scheduled to meet at UFC 146, but Overeem was suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for elevated levels of testosterone.
He can not re-apply for a license until the end of December, but that has not stopped him from talking about Dos Santos.
During his meeting with Dos Santos, White said that the champion called Overeem a punk and that he wants to knock him out.
“I have nothing but respect for Cain Velasquez,” White said. “I like him as a person and a fighter. I think deserves this shot at the title, but I do not want to fight him, which is not what he said a month ago. Alistair Overeem is a punk, he has a big mouth, he has been saying a lot of bad things about me and I want to knock him out.”
After White told the media what Dos Santos told him, the champion went to Twitter to clarify his thoughts.
Just to clarify: I will fight whoever UFC puts in front of me.But when people talk to much I feel anxious to shut them up

Upon hearing the news, Overeem was very happy that the champion wants to fight him.
Happily reading an interview about JDS wanting to fight me instead of Cain. Cool! Give me and give the fans what they want!

Should the UFC give Dos Santos what he wants or have him take on Velasquez?
If the UFC decides to have Dos Santos wait for Overeem, the bout would not take place in 2013. However, a fight with Cain could take place before the end of the year. Velasquez is scheduled to make his first public comments on the situation today on Ariel Helwani’s show on MMA Fighting and recently said that he is ready to get back into the octagon.
