The only heavyweight fight at UFC on FOX 4 happened on the preliminary card as Phil De Fries defeated Oli Thompson by rear-naked choke submission in the second round. 
After a less than exciting first round, De Fries (9-1, 1NC) dropped with a right hand early in the second round and nearly finished the fight with ground and pound.
Thompson was able to survive the strikes, but De Fries was able to get the back of his opponent and get the submission victory.
The end of the fight came at the 4:16 mark of the second round and was announced as a face crank submission. However, the submission was essentially a rear-naked choke and De Fries has used that submission to win six fights in his career.
He has now won two of his three fights in the UFC with the only lost coming against Stipe Miocic. Thompson (9-4) has now dropped his first two UFC fights and this is the first time he has been defeated by submission in his career.
