The second and final featherweight bout on the UFC on FUEL TV 5 card took place on the preliminary card as former Ultimate Fighter contestants Andy Ogle (8-1) and Akira Corassani (11-4-1) squared off.
They spent the first minute feeling each other out, before Ogle was able to land a right that dropped his opponent. Corassani would get back to his feet and once again Ogle landed a strike that dropped Corassani.
Corassani would land a overhand right that dropped Ogle, but the British fighter was able to get back to his feet. The fighters would trade strikes throughout the rest of the round and each fighter had cuts on their face.
The second rounded started just like the first round did with both fighters picking and choosing their spots to throw their strikes. Corassani was the fighter who was pushing the pace and was landing several combinations. With Corassani controlling the stand up, Ogle went for a takedown against the cage. With Corassani attempting to wall walk, Ogle attempted to put his opponent in a guillotine choke. With time expiring in the round, Ogle let the submission and threw several strikes as the round ended.
In the final round, Corassani landed a head kick and Ogle fell to the mat. Once on the mat, Ogle was able to get a single leg takedown and transition to his opponents back. At this point, Ogle landed several elbows in the crucifix position. The round would end after Ogle battered Corassani in the final minute of the round.
For the second straight fights and three judges scoring the fight did not agree as Corassani scored a split decision victory. This is the first UFC victory for Corassani (12-4, 1NC) and has won five of his last six fights
