Bellator MMA has announced that they will be heading to Georgia for Bellator 88 on February 7th and the fight card will be headlined by Alexander Shlemenko facing Maiquel Falcao for the vacant middleweight title.
The fight card will come from The Arena at Gwinnet Center in Duluth, Georgia and the card will also feature the start of the season eight featherweight tournament.
“Shlemenko vs. Falcao is a spectacular world title fight. If you like fights, this one has fight of the year written all over it,” said Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney. “With 50 knockouts between the two, February 7th should be absolute fireworks from The Arena at Gwinnett Center and on Spike TV.”
The preliminary card will begin at 8 p.m. ET and will be streamed on Spike.com and the main card will begin at 10 p.m. ET on Spike TV.
Shlemenko (46-7) has won the Bellator middleweight tournament twice and will be looking to become the second middleweight champion in Bellator history. He is looking forward to his fight with Falcao and he plans to smash his opponent and win the title.
“It was a long path for me,” Shlemenko said. “It doesn’t matter whom I will face to get my title, Falcao, or anyone else. I will smash my opponent, and win the title, because I have my country behind me. I’m fighting for the honor of Russia, and I’m glad that the audience on Spike TV in and on Russia 2 will be able to watch my fight live!”
