With Manny Gamburyan suffering an injury and being out of his fight with Chad Mendes, the UFC has officially announced that Mendes is off the card and they have added a new fight to the card.
Yuri Villefort will take on Nah Shon Burrell in a welterweight bout, that will take place on the preliminary card.
According to the UFC website, the welterweight bout between Court McGee and Josh Neer has been added to the pay-per-view to replace the Mendez/Gamburyan fight.
Villefort (6-1) will be making his UFC debut after losing his Strikeforce debut to Quinn Mulhern in 2012, which was a split decision lost. Prior to the defeat, he opened his career with six straight victories with five of them coming by stoppage.
Burrell (8-2) will also be making his UFC debut as he also comes over from Strikeforce. In Strikeforce, he won his first three fights before being defeated by Chris Spang last year by TKO. Prior to the defeat, he had won six in a row with four of those victories coming by TKO/KO.
UFC 157 takes place next Saturday night in Anaheim and will be headlined by Ronda Rousey defending the UFC women’s bantamweight title against Liz Carmouche.
