In the main event of Bellator 99, Patricio Pitbull advanced to the semifinals of the season nine featherweight tournament as he became the first fighter to defeat Diego Nunes by stoppage.
The fight would come to an end at the 1:19 minute mark of the opening round after Pitbull landed a short left hand that dropped Nunes and referee John McCarthy quickly came in to call the fight when it was clear that Nunes was out.
Pitbull (18-2) will now meet Fabricio Guerreiro in the semifinals of the featherweight tournament and that bout is expected to take place on October 11th at Bellator 103.
