The opening fight of the UFC Fight Night 28 main card was a flyweight bout as Ali Bagautinov won his UFC debut by third round TKO over Marcos Vinicius.
The opening round saw Bagautinov land a flurry of punches against the fence on Vinicius and looked to finish the fight with a rear-naked choke on the ground. Vinicius was able to defend the attempt and reverse the position. As the round was coming to a conclusion, Bagautinov was able to get back to his feet and Vinicius landed a quick takedown as the bell sounded.
Vinicius appeared to be slowing down in the second round and Bagautinov was able to get the fight to the ground. He would have top position on the ground but Vinicius was able to get back to his feet. The remainder of the second round would be on the feet until Bagautinov scored a takedown as the round concluded.
In the final round, they continued their striking battle and Bagautinov attemted to get the fight to the ground but Vinicius was able to stop the attempt. After they were separted, Bagautinov landed a right hand that dropped Vinicius and he finished the fight with strikes on the ground.
Bagautinov (11-2) improves his winning streak to nine fights and his last three wins have come by TKO/KO. Vinicius (20-5-1) has dropped back to back fights after winning his UFC debut and this is his third defeat by TKO/KO.
