UFC Fight Night 89 took place this Saturday night in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and was headlined by Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson making his case for a title shot with a decision victory over Rory MacDonald.
According to Nielson sources, the main card broadcast on FS1 (10:53-1:35a ET) had an average live audience of 964,000 viewers and peaked at 1,133,000 viewers during the 12-12:15a ET quarter hour. The viewership from Saturday is up 4 percent on total viewership compared to the average of the two Fight Nights that aired on FS1 last June (964,000 vs. 929,000).
Prior to the main card on FS1, the televised preliminary card (8:30-10:30p ET) aired on FS2 and featured Jason Saggo scoring a split decision victory against Leandro Silva. The two hour televised preliminary card averaged 312,000 viewers and the portion of the UFC Fight Night 89 main card that aired on FS2 (10:30-10:57p ET, 369,000 viewers) rank as #3 and #5 for FS2’s most watched programs (of any kind) since network launch.
