Bruce Lutchmedial explains decision to drop to bantamweight heading into tonight’s Titan FC 40

After winning his Titan FC debut at a catchweight of 140 pounds, Bruce Lutchmedial will make his bantamweight debut at Titan FC 40 as he will met Frank Sharipov in one of the two semifinals fights in the four-man bantamweight tournament to determine the next Titan FC bantamweight champion.

Lutchmedial (5-1) made his professional mixed martial arts debut in 2011 and was defeated by former UFC fighter Anthony Christodoulou. Since that fight, he has won five in a row and is coming off a decision win against Pablo Alfonso at Titan FC 38 in April.

After winning fight fights in a row, why did Lutchmedial decided to drop down to the bantamweight division?

“I fought at 155 and I actually have a pro MMA belt in 155. I won it in one of the best organizations in the Caribbean,”Lutchmedial told The MMA Report. “I fought at 145 and my last fight was at 140 against Pablo Alfonso and that was kind of a tester. I wanted to test how I would feel. While I made 140 — the day of the weigh-ins, I was like ‘I could definitely cut five or six more pounds if I needed to.’ I went on a vegetarian diet for the past couple of months — maybe three or four months I have been on a vegetarian diet. And that is what basically made me tell my coaches and my manager, I think I can make 135.”
