Former Pride and Strikeforce champion Dan Henderson has been vocal over the last 24 hours about Chael Sonnen receiving the next title shot against current light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
After the announcement was made, Henderson said he should start trash talking instead of letting his action in the cage do his talking. Now, Henderson says that he will always have love for Sonnen, but giving him this opportunity degrades the sport of mixed martial arts.
“And just to make it clear, I will always hv love for Chael and don’t blame him for saying yes to a big opportunity,” Henderson tweeted. “But giving him that fight rt now degrades the sport of Mma.”
With Sonnen receiving the new shot, Henderson will now face Lyoto Machida and it’s unknown when that fight will take place. Even if Henderson wins that fight, he will likely have to face the winner of the UFC on FOX 5 co-main event fight as Alexander Gustafsson takes on Mauricio “Shogun” Rua before he could get a crack at the title.
