Welterweight Belal Muhammad made his UFC debut last month at UFC Fight Night 90 and he will be returning to the UFC octagon on September 17 in Hidalgo, Texas at UFC Fight Night 94.
Prior to signing with the UFC, Muhammad (9-1) won the Titan FC welterweight title earlier this year with a stoppage victory against Steve Carl and stepped up on short notice to face Alan Jouban at UFC Fight Night 90. Ultimately, he would lose a decision against Jouban at UFC Fight Night 90 and he will look to get his first victory in the UFC octagon next month against Augusto Montano.
On Thursday afternoon, I caught up with Muhammad to talk about his UFC debut last month and preview his upcoming fight against Montano. Along with those topics, we discussed training with Phil “CM Punk” Brooks, getting the early wake up calls from USADA and his thoughts on fighting someone who has previously failed a drug test.
