Former UFC lightweight title challenger Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is moving up to the welterweight division on Sunday night to headline UFC Fight Night 84 in Pittsburgh against Brazilian Alex “Cowboy” Oliveira.
On Wednesday night’s edition of “UFC Tonight” on FS2, Cerrone joined the show to talk about his recent defeat against current UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos at UFC on FOX 17 and also explained on the show why he is moving up a weight class.
“They asked me to take a fight against Tarec Saffiedine at 170,” Cerrone stated. “That’s why I moved up a weight class. Then it changed to Tim Means and that didn’t work. Now I’m fighting a 155er here at 170. If they called me in two weeks, I’d still fight. It doesn’t matter. I’m here to make money.”
