Bellator 174 took place this past Friday night at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma and was headlined by Julia Budd winning the inaugural Bellator women’s featherweight title with a stoppage victory against Marloes Coenen in the fourth round.

When it comes to the television ratings for the fight card, it was revealed on Monday by Nielson that the main card on Spike delivered 686,000 viewers and Spike TV announced on Wednesday that the fight card came in with 755,000 viewers in the +3 DVR ratings. Along with announcing the average viewership, Spike confirmed that the peak viewership of the broadcast came during the main event with 1.1 million viewers.

Bellator will return to Spike TV on March 31 for Bellator 175 and the event will be headlined by a rematch as Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will meet Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal in a heavyweight bout on the fight card coming from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.

Good news for Bellator and good news for MMA female fighters. Now there is zero excuses for Bellator not to feature more women fights on their main cards and main events. And considering that Bellator 174 card was riddled with replacement fighters being vastly over matched by their opponents and that Julia Budd vs Marloes Coenen fight was less than scintillating, those are some good ratings.
